What Is a Life-Hours Calculator?
Most price tags only tell you what something costs in dollars. This tool tells you what it costs in the one truly non-renewable resource you have: hours of your life. It combines three numbers that are normally scattered across different calculators — your true hourly wage, the life-hours cost of any purchase, and the long-term opportunity cost of spending versus investing — into a single two-minute session.
How the Math Works
True hourly wage = (annual take-home pay − monthly work costs × 12) ÷ (weekly hours worked + weekly commute hours) × 48 working weeks. Life-hours cost = purchase price ÷ true hourly wage. Opportunity cost = purchase price × (1 + return rate) ^ years. Freedom number = annual expenses ÷ safe withdrawal rate.
